African Green Tea: The Choice of Distinction

In Africa, green tea represents about 10% of production, making it a rarer commodity. In East Africa, in the Great Lakes region (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi) where we mainly source our teas, the soil is very rich in nutrients. This allows for high-quality production, with great aromatic richness and often with a unique fruity character.

The quality of the soil, the variety of tea plant (Camellia Sinensis Assamica for African teas), the altitude and the climate largely determine the final quality of our teas.

The mountainous regions and plateaus in these regions are particularly suited to tea production. The good light and the temperate climate with regular rainfall allow tea to be produced there all year round.

Then comes the know-how for processing the tea leaves as well as the choice of methods used (for example: roasting the tea in a wok or in a clay dish). This is what makes the difference and distinguishes our African green teas.

Green tea consumption in Africa

In Africa, green tea consumption is mainly concentrated in North Africa in the Maghreb countries and in West Africa in regions close to the Sahara such as Mauritania, Senegal and Mali.

Mint tea

Mint green tea has become an institution there, a ritual characteristic of the culture of hospitality that punctuates local life. However, mint green tea is not the only treasure of North Africa. This region has an impressive variety of plants and ingredients that you will often find in local herbalists.

N°2. Amazigh Flower

The Moroccan rose is one of the emblematic flowers of the region, very popular with women in baking and for well-being treatments. Thus, we have imagined tea N°2.Amazigh Flower, composed of a delicate green tea from Kenya, the delicacy of almonds and the captivating scent of Moroccan roses.
